Opis kursu

The course to which we invite you is aimed at bringing participants closer to the principles of conducting research using the experimental method.

The course consists of six modules. The first two of which are devoted to the assumptions of experiment as a research method and planning of experiments. The next three concerns the analysis using this method. The last one – is the preparation of a scientific report in accordance with the APA Style.

 


ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

To undertake the course it is advisable to:

  • knowledge of the basics of descriptive statistics;
  • access to a computer capable of playing multimedia material;
  • use of SPSS software during the course is recommended.

AIMS OF THE COURSE

Each participant of the course will gain skills in the field of:

  • planning experiments,
  • statistical methods of analysis,
  • interpretation of results,
  • and reporting.

CONTENT

MODULE 1

  • the definition of an experiment;
  • the possibilities of applying the experimental method in economics and management;
  • the concept of causality, dependent and independent variable, control group and experimental group;
  • the stages of planning the experiment.

MODULE 2

  • internal validity and external validity of the experiment;
  • null hypothesis, alternative hypothesis, and significance;
  • experimental plans;
  • ethical issues and errors in conducting experiments.

MODULE 3

  • the levels of measurement, parametric and non-parametric statistical tests;
  • independent samples Student t test (assumptions, example, conducting the test, interpreting and reporting the results);
  • Mann-Whitney U test (assumptions, example, conducting the test, interpreting and reporting the results).

MODULE 4

  • ANOVA (assumptions, example, conducting the test, interpreting and reporting the results);
  • Kruskal-Wallis test (assumptions, example, conducting the test, interpreting and reporting the results).

MODULE 5

  • Dependent samples t-test (assumptions, example, conducting the test, interpreting and reporting the results);
  • Wilcoxon's signed rank test (assumptions, example, conducting the test, interpreting and reporting the results).

MODULE 6

  • the report structure in accordance with APA standards;
  • standards for reporting statistics and figures.

CONDITIONS FOR PASSING THE COURSE

The prerequisites for passing the course are:
- taking a test at the end of each module to verify the material learnt; each test consists of five questions with four answers, within which one correct answer must be selected;
- a minimum score of 51% in all the tests at the end of each module is required to complete the course.

It is possible to take the test questions twice.


CONDITIONS FOR OBTAINING THE CERTIFICATE

Once you have reached the pass mark and you have reached the last page of the course (clicking on the "Finish Course" button), you will be able to download a certificate of completion.
