Introduction to Software Testing

This course is addressed to novice programmers and prospective testers. If you are starting to study computer science, or just have an interest in software development but don't know how to get down to verifying your software, then this course is for you. You will learn what testing is and how to prepare for the process - simply performing a test is just one of many steps in the work to verify the software for known types of errors. By knowing someone else's errors, we can check that we are not making them in our own software.

PREREQUISITES

• Fundamentals of programming in any programming language.
• Basic knowledge of computer algorithms.
• Familiarity with basic software engineering may be an advantage.
• Knowledge of English, including IT vocabulary, is recommended for independent work.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

General objective of the course: To discover different ways of testing software.

Detailed objectives:

• Module 1 objective - Learn the role of testing in the software development process.
• Module 2 objective - Acquire skills in test planning and preparation. Explore the basic techniques to assist in documenting test results.
• Module 3 objective - Discover the role of testing in software quality assurance.

CONDITIONS FOR CREDITING

In order to pass the course, it is necessary to take a final test consisting of 20 closed questions and to provide correct answers to at least 11 questions. The final test is available at the end of the course in the module Check yourself.

CONDITIONS FOR OBTAINING THE CERTIFICATE

To obtain certificate, you must meet the pass mark for all eligible assignments. You can check your results in the Results tab. The certificate will be generated automatically when the minimum pass threshold is exceeded. In the My Courses tab, the "Certification" button will be active. After clicking on the button, you will be able to view and download the certificate.

COURSE STAFF

Ph.D. Eng. Tomasz Klasa - computer scientist, university lecturer, PTI member. Professionally involved in IT since 2002, mainly in the field of management IT and information security management. SAP implementation and service consultant (mainly FI area, also TRM). He has participated in several full SAP implementations and many implementations of additional SAP-based tools, during which he planned, coordinated or supported the testing process.
