The course has been prepared as part of the project entitled "Platon. Online educational courses for students" (project number: POWR.03.01.00-00-W071/18). Project co-financed by the European Union under the European Social Fund – Operational Programme Knowledge Education Development.


The course "From an app idea to 1 million downloads. Mobile development from the business perspective" is intended for students and all people for whom mobile Internet plays an important role in business - people employed in interactive or marketing agencies, product owners, project managers, as well as current and future mobile application developers.

The course includes practical advice, case studies and the necessary theory in the field of strategic management. All the examples are from recent years and are easy to understand for the budding entrepreneur or student.

The course consists of 10 modules that the Participant may pursue at his/her own pace. The content is varied with videos, graphics and exercises. There is a short test at the end of each module.

PREREQUISITES

Basic IT and/or business knowledge is advisable, but not required. In the field of business: how profits are generated in the enterprise, what are the business models. In the field of computer science: basic knowledge of technical issues in the field of mobile applications – operating systems, technical issues (programming), experience design (UX/UI), etc.


COURSE OBJECTIVES

  • You will gain knowledge about the mobile market and the mobile product development cycle.
  • You will learn about the possibilities offered by a smartphone.
  • You will know what are the basic aspects of the mobile market and mobile technology.
  • You will learn how to write an application prototype step by step.

COURSE CONTENT

MODULE 1. Mobile applications market

In the first module, we will look at the mobile market. You will learn how global trends affect the local mobile market.

MODULE 2. How does a smartphone work?

In the second module, we will focus on how the smartphone works and what possibilities it offers.

MODULE 3. Your idea for an application

In the third module, we will consider how to find an idea for an application.

MODULE 4. Sources of success in mobile

The fourth module contains information on soft and hard data used in the analysis of application functioning.

MODULE 5. Application schedule and budget

In the fifth module, we will explain what to do next once we have an idea for an application.

MODULE 6. Prototyping is not design

The sixth module will introduce you to the subject of prototyping. You will learn about UX and Design Thinking.

MODULE 7. Application development technologies

In the seventh module, you will learn about the available application development technologies.

MODULE 8. Quality Assurance

In the eighth module, we will cover quality assurance and testing.

MODULE 9. Placing applications in stores and their maintenance

The ninth module is devoted to issues related to placing the application in stores and maintaining it.

MODULE 10. Promotion and development of the application

The tenth module will introduce you to the topic of promoting the application and its development.


CONDITIONS FOR PASSING THE COURSE

To pass the course and obtain a certificate you have to read the entire material and get a total of 50% of the points that can be gained from the activities included in the course.
